True Lies

I thought I would initiate the month of June on a bit of an upbeat note. I lifted this idea from fellow blogger Mary Whitsell from her excellent blog, Resident Alien where she had readers guess which one of her statements was a lie.

Below are six true statements and one false statement about me. The first 10 readers who correctly deduce the one lie below, will receive a free DVD of my documentary: Andrus, the Man, the Mind & the Magic. (And yes, I do ship international).

Incidentally, Jerry Andrus prided himself on never telling lies (though he recounts in the film about the one he admits he told during his life).

The contest will end June 4th at midnight when the answers and the winning commenter(s) will be revealed.

(Contest rules: One guess per commenter though you can delete
and change your guess at any time before the contest ends.
Void in locations where your name is Kara)

Ready… set… go!

1. My first job out of college was as a “Repo Man” - I repossessed cars from people who were behind on their payments.

2. I contracted Polio in the 1950’s and spent some time in the dreaded Iron Lung.

3. I asked my current wife to marry me after we had known each other only ten days.

4. I am so frightened of the dentist that I skipped out in the middle of taking a dental school entrance exam.

5. I am terrified of heights.

6. I have never smoked “Marijuana”.

7. I once threw a dart, missing the bulls-eye, which instead stuck into my cousin’s skull.
Good luck!!

I'm going with #4 because you wouldn't have attempted a dental school entrance exam if you were "frightened of the dentist". The other stuff I could believe ;)

I guess #6.

Hmmmm-these are hard. I think I know your personality a bit from reading this blog, and am guessing that there are some red herrings in there. I am going to guess that #3 is not true. You don't really seem like the impetuous type.
In any event, these are all interesting things to have done in your life.

I'd say #4, but then again...

I take five.

My first reaction was '4', but two other people have said that one. So I'll say '1' instead.

My guess is #1, Repo Man. I first visited your blog yesterday, have scrolled back through recent posts and can only throw my own dart. I hope no one is injured in the process.

Sure, make it hard and make me think! You've done a buncha things in your life, and one of them was a sky dive. I'm going to say #5 because you were terrified of heights, but the sky dive cured it in vitro.

#6. If this is true, you are the first one from that generation who hasn't.

I know, I know! But I'm not telling. Interesting to see the guesses...

Eric So is that your vote, or are you just commenting? - R

That'll be my vote....that or the dart.
it'd suck to be your cousin

Either way, you have lived one strange (and fulfilled) life.

I have never understood these. I think my mind just works differently - I read through these lists and I think, "Any of them could be true and any of them could be lies." And I can't find it in me to even want to guess. I always figure the person will eventually just say what the truth is. Or they won't.
