Home!

After 23 days I was released to come home from the hospital late last night. When I was a little boy my mother would read to me while I was sick in bed. This particular poem was my favorite.

Expect a bit more from me in a couple of days after I reacquaint myself with my home and my ravaged body. - RTS

The Land of Counterpane
by Robert Louis Stevenson

When I was sick and lay a-bed,
I had two pillows at my head,
And all my toys beside me lay,
To keep me happy all the day.

And sometimes for an hour or so
I watched my leaden soldiers go,
With different uniforms and drills,
Among the bed-clothes, through the hills;

And sometimes sent my ships in fleets
All up and down among the sheets;
Or brought my trees and houses out,
And planted cities all about.

I was the giant great and still
That sits upon the pillow-hill,
And sees before him, dale and plain,
The pleasant land of counterpane.

Honestly, Robert, you say it was only 23 days, but it seemed like 24. Welcome to the world again.

Great news on a Monday morning. I've found that it takes a few days to decompress and de-stress after a hospital stay, so rest up. eat your spinach, and read us some more poems.

My silence over here should be visualized as an extended fish-gaping. If I was praying it sounded like bup-bup-bup-bup. Don't get back to this any sooner than you feel like. [sigh] the things people to to avoid blogging!

PS Your daughter is a hoot.
